'We accept the love we think we deserve' - is there more?

As Perks of Being a Wallflower says, "We accept the love we think we deserve". Falling in love with JESUS opens our life to nothing less than pure, unadulterated LOVE. There IS more.

Inviting you to take a moment, and place your hands on your heart:

Feel it beating.

Someone loved you SO MUCH to give you this heart that is beating right now.

Exactly as you are right now.

No matter your past.

No matter your future.

You are worthy.

And will always be worthy.

And valuable exactly as you are in this very moment.

Are you open to consider that someone or something greater than yourself gifted you with much more than just this heart?

Gifted the very breath of life within you?

The very source of life itself.

I met Jesus later in life, encountering the presence of the Holy Spirit in a way that was undeniable in a Church service. It took eighteen months of searching, of asking questions like, God are you, really, real? Is this something I can base my life upon? Before I opened up my heart to the Creator. Another two years of healing. Of bringing down 'walls' of independence, hurt, control down and allowing God to heal places of my interior world long since devastated.

Perhaps this is your journey too?

And if its possible for me, girl its possible for you to find this love too!

I believe that we find our greatest of LOVES in the love of Jesus Christ.

The Bible says in Lamentations 3:21 (MSG):

"Gods loyal love doesn't run out. It never dries up. God proves to be good to the man and Daughter who passionately wait on and seek Him"

I don't know where you might be today but this beautiful invitation to intimacy is available to you each and every day. The words above remind us that God's heart and desire for you is good, in fact there is no fear in His perfect love (1 John 4:18). His desire for you is always for good. I believe that God placed eternity within our hearts to desire and know Him. In places and spaces inside of our soul that can ONLY be filled with Him. Human relationships are incredible but cannot fill a gap made to be filled with intimacy with our maker. Its said that God's word is written within us, and something resonates within us when truth speaks to and awakens the calling to truth inside of us.

Later in Lamentations it says: Take heart. The worst is never the worst. His stockpiles of love for you are immense. That means they can never run out. There is no level of brokenness that His love cannot meet you within, cover you and heal. As Romans 8 declares:

So now I live with the confidence that there is nothing in the universe with the power to separate us from God’s love. I’m convinced that his love will triumph over death, life’s troubles, fallen angels, or dark rulers in the heavens. There is nothing in our present or future circumstances that can weaken his love.  There is no power above us or beneath us—no power that could ever be found in the universe that can distance us from God’s passionate love, which is lavished upon us through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One! (38-39 TPT)

In fact, this Valentine's day we remember a love so strong that made God not only give us life but lay down His life for us. A love that you don't have to strive or change for. A love that cuts through every lie of shame, unbelief, insecurity, pain and isolation, and says:

Even on your worst day or best days I choose to love you first. And every day I will choose you and fight for you again.

As God's word says, For this is how much God loved the world—he gave his one and only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life. God did not send his Son into the world to judge and condemn the world, but to be its Savior and rescue it! So now there is no longer any condemnation for those who believe in him, but the unbeliever already lives under condemnation because they do not believe in the name of God’s beloved Son (John 3:16 TPT).

So, what makes us reject this great love? Well I think there is partial truth in the pop-culture quote: We accept the love that we think we deserve. Lesser love was my truth. Living in the worlds watered down, distorted version of love. Because hurt people hurt people. And we cannot give what we ourselves have not first received. We find it hard to believe that love is love that can truly be counted upon. Love that builds not breaks. Love that sacrifices to serve the other. When you have known lesser loves and the pain of rejection and sin, it is hard to believe that a higher love exists. And that we can receive it.

Darling, if that's you - i feel you. And encouraging you to keep seeking. As much as you are reaching out to God, He is reaching out to be known by you. Offering a love that you were destined to find since the beginning of eternity and time. He is desperate to know you. For you to know Him. And to help you become found and known in his great love.

Become found today.

If you haven't met Jesus before, you may want to cry out to him something like this: God, help me with my unbelief. Today, i want to know you. And know who I was made to be in you. Help me to be fully known and found in you. Fill me with your presence, and show me your love. Change me from the inside out so there is nothing else to say but, I have met the Lord. His son's name is Jesus. He alone has set me free, and my feet to dancing.
